Chemical, Biochemical and Environmental Engineering

UMBC’s Department of Chemical, Biochemical and Environmental Engineering (CBEE) is uniquely poised to take advantage of the synergistic opportunities among the multiple fields represented by department faculty. CBEE offers an ABET-accredited undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering, doctoral and master’s degrees in Chemical and Biochemical Engineering and Environmental Engineering, and a graduate certificate in Biochemical Regulatory Engineering. CBEE research spans a wide range of computational, in vitro, in vivo, clinical, and field work. Research areas include biomaterials, cellular engineering, sensor development, systems biology, bioprocess engineering, pollutant remediation, and real-time monitoring of environmental conditions.
