New Full-time Faculty Onboarding Checklist
We assembled the COEIT New Faculty Onboarding Checklist (UMBC login required) as a tool to assist new faculty in onboarding to UMBC and COEIT to provide a reference to help new faculty to complete many of the tasks during your first days and months in your first year at UMBC. This checklist includes information and also links to resources, including policies and procedures. Additional resources are included in the sections below.

In addition to department-specific resources that are shared on department websites, the COEIT Dean’s includes additional information, resources, and guidance to the broader college community, including:

- Department of Human Resources & Strategic Talent Management – Getting Started at UMBC
The Department of Human Resources & Strategic Talent Management (HRSTM) shares resources and processes, and services available to all campus employees in the context of the institution, and as a member of the broader University System of Maryland.
- Faculty Development Center – Resources for New Faculty
The Faculty Development Center (FDC) provides resources, services, and support for UMBC faculty instructors with a teaching role. The FDC developed a resource guide for New Faculty that includes Frequently Asked Questions and a “Resources for Faculty” Guide with links to academic and campus information and resources.
- Office of the Provost Faculty Affairs – New Faculty
Within the Office of the Provost, Faculty Affairs is committed to supporting the careers of UMBC faculty colleagues and they have identified information and on-campus resources for new faculty as a guide to their new position at UMBC. Faculty Affairs also shares an area guide with community resources.

Resources include guidelines for classroom management, three-year reviews, UMBC CV format, and other useful and planning documents.
