Alex. Brown Center for Entrepreneurship
The Alex. Brown Center for Entrepreneurship focuses on establishing collaboration with entrepreneurs, government, higher education institutions and businesses throughout the region. By serving as a catalyst in these connections, the Center offers both start-ups and established organizations the resources they need to explore funding opportunities, receive first-hand advice from industry experts, identify up-to-the-minute research initiatives within their industry sector and enhance their pool of employee candidates.

Corporate Foundation and Relations
UMBC is dedicated to supporting the needs of businesses in Maryland and across the country. UMBC’s Corporate Relations supports the growth and prosperity of our corporate partners by providing access to talented students, cutting-edge research, and office/laboratory space.

Graduate School
UMBC is located in one of the greatest concentrations of commercial, cultural, and scientific activity in the nation. Many opportunities are available for our students to conduct research and collaborate with business, government agencies, research laboratories, and cultural institutions. Professional Studies

Research & Creative Achievement at UMBC
The Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR) serves as an advocate for UMBC’s research and creative achievement community, ensures access to key research infrastructure, and supports our faculty, staff and students in their pursuit of research, scholarship and creative achievement across all levels.

Sponsored Programs
The Office of Sponsored Programs is institutionally responsible for all pre-award and non-financial post-award functions, including proposal submissions, the negotiation and acceptance of all sponsored agreements on behalf of UMBC, award modifications, subrecipient monitoring and non-financial closeout of awards.

Technology Development
The Office of Technology Development assists the UMBC community in all phases of intellectual property protection and commercialization including: evaluating disclosed inventions for patent ability and market potential; filing patent applications, copyright and trademark registrations; reviewing and negotiating material transfer agreements and non-disclosure agreements related to UMBC technologies; negotiating technology licenses; license monitoring and revenue distribution and assisting entrepreneurial faculty in new company formation.

Training Centers
UMBC Training Centers is the premier provider of technical, engineering and professional skills training in the Mid-Atlantic region for individuals, businesses, non-profit organizations, and government agencies.
