The Division of Professional Studies (DPS) offers professionally focused master’s degrees, graduate certificates, accelerated B.S./M.S. programs, undergraduate programs, individual courses and non-degree training programs. DPS partners with UMBC academic programs, including programs in the College of Engineering and Information Technology and the Engineering (COEIT) and the Engineering and Computing Education Program (ECEP), to design and deliver high-quality graduate programs at UMBC.
The COEIT portfolio of Professional Engineering Programs are instructed by a diverse team of industry practice leaders. These programs are designed to equip the engineering professional to effectively lead and grapple with the challenges facing the technology-driven enterprise. Recognizing the fact that technical and technological leadership requires lifelong learning, the COEIT portfolio of programs offers preparation for industry recognized credentials such as Engineering Manager Professional Certifications by the American Society for Engineering Management (ASEM), Systems Engineering Professional Certifications by the International Council on Systems Engineering, and Project Management Certifications by the Project Management Institute (PMI).
Recently, INCOSE approved our updated SYST 660 Systems Engineering Principles course for Academic Equivalency. This will allow any student who receives a final score of 80% or better to waive the Knowledge Exam for INCOSE’s SE Professional certification program, both at the Associate (ASEP) and Certified (CSEP) levels.
