The goal of COEIT Research Day is to celebrate research across our college and spark interdisciplinary innovation and partnerships. The 2026 Research Day will provide a forum for faculty across all COEIT departments to:
- Showcase and advance research, entrepreneurship, and research translation ideas,
- Create new collaborations across departments within COEIT and with external partners,
- Spark collaborations and innovation for internal funding opportunities for research, entrepreneurship, and research translation.
This research day is designed to lead into a follow-up seed-funding activity (for example, COEIT Interdisciplinary Proposals (CIP)) that will open shortly after the research day.
We invite presentations and posters on a broad range of topics relevant to COEIT research themes. Since we will invite external partners to create new collaborations, we welcome both aspirational and completed research contributions.
Once we receive all abstracts, the working group will form thematic parallel tracks for presentations and posters. We hope to accommodate several representative talks from non-overlapping presenters and themes, and as many participants in the poster session as possible, to showcase the research strengths of the college. We anticipate invited talks and panels highlighting specific communities of COEIT researchers (e.g., prior CIP awardees, research centers) and external visitors from industry and government.
For talks, we particularly encourage junior faculty, collaborative submissions with authors from multiple departments, units, and/or research centers, and projects with an entrepreneurship or research translation focus.
When: Friday, May 1st, 2026, 9:00am-3:00pm
Where: UMBC University Center, 3rd floor (UC Ballroom, Room 310 and 312)
Schedule:
- Parallel talks and panel discussions organized by theme (9am to 3pm)
