Major: Mechanical Engineering
Hometown: Gaithersburg, MD
Campus Activities: Naval ROTC; Boxing Club; Wrestling; Rugby
Why did you choose UMBC?
I chose UMBC because of its strong program for STEM majors and more so because there is a Naval ROTC unit on campus.
What do you love about UMBC?
I love the diversity and small comfortableness it offers those looking to find a quiet and nice place to be.
What would you say to a prospective student?
To make sure that this is the school that they would want for them to be at and be happy in.
What has been your favorite class at UMBC?
My favorite class was probably ENGL100 with Professor Varlack as he helped push my writing skills to the next level.
What do you hope to achieve after you complete your degree at UMBC?
I hope to receive a commission into the Navy with a strong understanding and background for being a mechanical engineer.
Is there anything else you would like to share with us?
I would like to say that this school is very good in terms of academics but it needs to have more diversifying student life aspect so it can reach to more types of people. Sports is a huge thing which could tie the student body closer together but a lack thereof makes it difficult to do. I believe we are making steps in the right direction but we need to really make more of an effort to attract more types of people to make UMBC an even better honors university.
