Campus Activities: NCAA Track and Field Thower, Walker Avenue Apartments Resident Assistant, Camerata Alum, Catholic Retrievers, National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE)

Why did you choose UMBC?
I wanted to major in Chemical Engineering but stay in state. UMBC, John’s Hopkins and UMD were my only options. UMD was too selective and John’s Hopkins was also very expensive. My brother attended UMBC and it seemed nice, so with that being my only available option, I gave it a try!

What do you love about UMBC?
I love that there’s truly something for everyone here!

What would you say to a prospective student?
Make sure you love whatever you decide to involve yourself in. It’ll be challenging at times and your passion might be your only drive. Most importantly, be open to accepting help. UMBC is known for having grit especially because this school is hard but its very beautiful and rewarding to see one’s success. You can’t succeed alone, so get ready to get out your comfort zone, seek help, and be your best self!

What has been your favorite class at UMBC?
PSYC 215. I learned a lot about myself and other people in this class. Though most of my courses are stem based I appreciated this class the most because it was different. It’s as though majority of stem courses lack a sense of being social. Which i find would be very beneficial in terms of working together to solve problems but instead I find myself struggling alone.

What are you researching?
I have yet to participate in research. When I can feel I have a good grasp on the workload from classes I will involve myself in a deeper study of knowledge which is research.

What do you hope to achieve after you complete your degree at UMBC?
I really want to make my own lip balm with natural resources. I believe if your lips look good, you feel good! What’s out there now, everyone is constantly re-applying to their lips but still you find their lips bleeding in the winter. I hope to bring comfort and confidence to our future!

Is there anything else you would like to share with us?
Thank you for inviting general students to share their voice!! Have a great day!
