Why did you choose UMBC?
I chose UMBC because of its diverse student population, motivational/determination, and scholastic excellence. The students here acknowledge their surroundings and major and fully accept the underlying tools needed to succeed.

What do you love about UMBC?
I love just about everything that UMBC has to offer. From the accepting and inclusive environment to the rigorous course offerings, there is always something to be gained.

What would you say to a prospective student?
Our university is a very diverse environment. As a research institution we strive for excellence and inclusiveness. You’ll find your niche and one (or many) of our student involvement organizations. UMBC operates as a backwards funnel, it takes more narrow aspects and widens them to a much greater aspect.

What has been your favorite class at UMBC?
My favorite classes at UMBC have been IS 310 – hardware and software concepts, IS 448 – Scripting Languages and CMSC 491 – Social Media mining.

What are you researching?
I am researching anomaly detection, patterns/trend analysis and cyber threat mitigation with Dr Vandana Janeja.

Where did you complete your internship?
I was recruited for a program Supporting the NSA through General Dynamics Information Technology. I currently work part time as a Cyber Software Engineer.

What do you hope to achieve after you complete your degree at UMBC?
I plan on attending a graduate program to obtain my MSc in Data Science at Johns Hopkins University.

Is there anything else you would like to share with us?
I am very thankful that God has brought me to UMBC where I have met the most renowned researchers, passionate faculty and the best friends I’ve ever had in my life. I intend on eventually establishing a scholarship for young motivated individuals in COEIT who may face small challenges. (disabilities, minorities etc)
