Chemical, Biochemical & Environmental Engineering

UMBC’s Department of Chemical, Biochemical & Environmental Engineering (CBEE) is uniquely poised to take advantage of the synergistic opportunities among the multiple fields represented by department faculty. CBEE offers an ABET-accredited undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering, doctoral and master’s degrees in Chemical and Biochemical Engineering and Environmental Engineering, and a graduate certificate in Biochemical Regulatory Engineering. CBEE research spans a wide range of computational, in vitroin vivo, clinical, and field work. Research areas include biomaterials, cellular engineering, sensor development, systems biology, bioprocess engineering, pollutant remediation, and real-time monitoring of environmental conditions.
